Movement upon movement

by K. Kylyra Ameringer

There are movements upon movements on the water.

She plays her hair

out in long

glossy tresses,

And I'd forgotten

the smell of her

and the feel of her

beneath me.

My thoughts drift like ripples,

Movement upon movement.

I'd forgotten I was

a lonely woman shivering

In the sunlight

Wondering how deep the stake goes,

Shivering.

And he says "hi"

Across the Indian Ocean

and a couple of Montanas.

There is no tomorrow, I think,

And go inside.
