Gone

It was last Tuesday, I had to work late. I'd missed the bus so I had one of my friends drive me home that evening. I had left my keys on the desk at work so I had to pound on the door to get someone to answer. All the lights were on but no one did seem to come. I went to the rear entrance by the kitchen. One of the windows was cracked open so I climbed in and unlocked the backdoor. I found a letter lying on the kitchen table addressed to me. She said she was going to return in the morning to pick up her belongings. She said that I was never going to see her again.

  • She's gone away, she's gone

  • She's gone away, she's gone

I arrived home early Wednesday. All the lights were still left on, but she'd already gone. She had left another twenty dollar bill, a check for the utilities, and another note lying on the living room table. I grabbed a glass of burbon and went upstairs to check out the bedroom. She had taken all her clothes, a couple of pillows and my favourite blanket. I noticed she had took the lamp I'd received last Christmas from my parents. I went back downstairs into the living room. I threw the letter into the fire.

  • She's gone away, she's gone

  • She's gone away, she's gone
