    General - height 40 m, spread 20 m, an erect deciduous tree with a conical habit when young and furrowed grey bark.
    Leaves - fan shaped, 12 cm across, turn yellow in autumn
    Flowers - male - thick, yellow catkins/female - white, round, solitary
    Fruit - yellow-green, plum-like, unpleasant smell when ripe

harvest
    Leaves are picked as they change colour in autumn. Kernels (seeds) are harvested from ripe fruit.
