Dark World Frequently Asked Questions

question 6 - Why are you called Dark World? (you're site is not that dark and you have so many helpful "nice" and "fun" things)?

Dark World artists are not all depressive gloomy creatures, that is true. The term "Dark World" was first used by J.A.Bohr in reference to his first underground video series. It is actually Chad Stefonich (drummer who has recorded with Nuclear Hedz, Brood, Wifebeater and a few others) who first spoke the phrase "Dark World" in a comment made to J.A.B. during filming footage for the series in 1992 saying something to the effect, "You really show a Dark World." Obviously J.A.B. was quite estatic with the phrase, using it as the title of his series.

It then became the name of the company to create the "Ennui Entertainment Presents..." video series which aired on North American public access television in 1995-1996. It was produced by none other than J.A.Bohr. Then when the record label that the band Black Orchid was with began to go under it was Dark World that became the company which gained the rights to the Black Orchid tapes.

Acquiring the band Infinisynth in 1995, Dark World then became a BMI music publisher (a label in its own right) in North America. Dark World has since parted ways with BMI, but it did validate a lot of the work that had been done.

2005 brought the final move to Ireland, the writing/recording of 'Give the World a Hand', and the beginning of Dark World International, with 2006 bringing 'The 1st' from Deemed Psychotic. I personally do not think this music is DARK, but it is definately Dark World in musical tradition.

Dark World is not necessarily dark all the time, but the world we all live in sure is, and it's getting darker by the day. We're just honest about it to ourselves (no, we're mostly not christians, either. I, myself Tor, am of a Hindu faith).
