Thursday night - 70+ performances
Artist: The CheatersHome: Norway Venue/Time: De Spieghel/20.45 - 21.30 |
Hailing from Oslo, this three piece (guitar/vocals, bass, drum) band call themselves rock but their driving bass and throbbing drums gave them more of a UK punk sound reminiscent of The Clash. 'This was the first act of Eurosonic we saw, and I loved their raw sound ... it kept me bouncing on my feet.' (Kylyra) Visit their site at www.thecheaters.org. |
Artist: Artist: Mo & GrazzHome: Belgium Venue/Time: Newscafe/20.45 - 21.30 |
This husband and wife duo combine her sultry female R&B vocals with his hip hop turntable underlays to create their sound. With just the two of them on stage, and one of them behind a DJ set-up, it might be easy to think Mo & Grazz would get lost in the Eurosonic crowds, but that was not the case. Commanding the stage with her presence, Monique Harcum (Mo) belted out song after song and captured the audience's attention without ever overshadowing her husband (Grazz) behind his equipment. Their jazzy, sensual music was easy to listen to and very danceable. Go to www.mograzz.com for more information. |
Artist: A Silent ExpressHome: Netherlands Venue/Time: Shadrak-Floor/21.45 - 22.30 |
The three piece band A Silent Express had a good sized crowd at their performance, and with good reason; Groningen is their home city and according to their Noorderslag program description they play out as much as possible. Pushing their punk/grunge sound, A Silent Express plays as many original songs as they can manage, much to the delight of their fans. Find out more at www.asilentexpress.nl. |
