about Poets Express
For many people, poetry goes beyond the written page; it is a spoken art form. Poets Express is a West Cork, Ireland event celebrating the art form of Performance Poetry. Dark World International made recordings of the live performances in 2009 and 2010. Information on the event can be found on Express Events and on MySpace (http://groups.myspace.com/PoetsExpress). Videos shown behind the poets at the 11 July 2009 show can be found on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/PoetsExpress). Featured poets are; Derek Fanning, Antonionioni, Tomás Ó Cárthaigh, Andy N, Dale Mawhinney, Kylyra (performing KyPoetry), Eric Rhodes, Siofrá Martin, Cah-44, Wordmusic, Jude Cowan, Andy DeLamere, Tom Jordan, The Lonely Schizophrenic, and Jeff Woodruff. Performances from both the shows are available as downloads in 'Free MP3s' on the left.
Also available are recordings from the 12 July 2009 studio sessions with some of the guests from the show. Derek Fanning, Antonionioni, Tomás Ó Cárthaigh, Andy N, and Dale Mawhinney joined Kylyra in the Dark World studio. Each guest recited poems which Kylyra added music and sound environments to. enjoy. (all music in the 2009 Studio Session mixes was written, performed and produced by Kylyra, except "Derek Fanning- Down by the Sallee Garden", which was done by KarrArikh Tor.)
Kids Express recordings feature children reciting poetry to a live audience. Kids Express 2009 features poems by Ruby Sullivan and Erin Barclay. Kids Express 2010 features poems by Elle Loughran, Katherine Pye, Joshua Campbell, Imogen Duncalf, Kate Dixon Humphreys, Sanuel Ansah Asare, Denise Somers, Charlotte Pierce-Saunderson, Michell O'Neill, and Isabelle Brinan.
